Features
Changelog software that people actually read
Short answerShipnoted is changelog software: a public page of release notes in your own colours and type, a What's New widget for inside your app, an RSS and JSON feed, and email to subscribers. The free plan includes all of it for one project.
What you get#
- A public changelog at
yourapp.com/changelog(on Pro, your own domain) or on a Shipnoted address. Entries are written in Markdown with headings, images, code blocks, callouts and embedded videos. - Ten themes, six typefaces and your own accent colour. Light, dark, or following each visitor's system setting. It looks like part of your product, not ours.
- A What's New widget for your app: one script tag adds a button with an unread dot, a panel of recent releases and a way to suggest ideas.
- Subscribers and feeds. Readers can subscribe by email (confirmed, never spammed), by RSS or by JSON feed, or follow only the types of change they care about: New, Improved, Fixed or Breaking.
- Release types and search. Every entry carries tags, readers can filter and search, and every heading has a link you can share.
How an entry gets written#
You can write it yourself in the editor, which has a live preview of the public page. Or connect GitHub and let the notes draft themselves from merged pull requests: AI release notes collects what changed, leaves out chores, and writes it for users. You always read and edit before anything goes live.
What it costs#
The Free plan is the whole product for one project: changelog, feedback board, roadmap and widget, with 100 subscribers. Pro is $19 a month ($190 a year) and adds your own domain, no Shipnoted badge, email to voters, scheduling and the API. Team is $49 a month for five projects and fifty people. Prices are flat: readers and voters are never counted.
Writing good entries#

Questions and answers
- What is a changelog?
- A changelog is a dated list of what changed in a product, newest first. A public one tells customers what is new and shows that the product is being looked after.
- Can I use my own domain for the changelog?
- Yes, on Pro and Team. Point a CNAME such as changelog.yourapp.com at Shipnoted and your pages are served there, with the certificate handled for you.
- Does the changelog have an RSS feed?
- Yes. Every changelog has an RSS feed and a JSON feed, and a feed for each type of change, so people can follow only New or only Fixed entries.
- Is there a free plan for changelogs?
- Yes. The Free plan includes a public changelog, a feedback board, a roadmap and the widget for one project with up to 100 subscribers.
- Can I move my existing changelog in?
- Yes. You can import releases from GitHub Releases, and a changelog and feedback board from Canny, Featurebase or Productboard, using an API key, in about a minute.
