# A help center that answers before they ask

> Shipnoted's help center is a searchable set of articles you write in Markdown. It appears on your public site and your own domain, in the widget's Help tab, and as suggestions while someone starts to post a question that already has an answer.

## What you get

- **Articles in collections.** Write in Markdown with headings, images, code blocks and callouts, with a live preview next to the editor. Group articles into collections and put them in order.
- **A public help center** at `/help` on your Shipnoted page, or on your own domain on Pro. It has search, a table of contents on long articles, and proper structured data so search engines and AI assistants can read it.
- **A Help tab in your app.** The widget searches the same articles, so people find answers without leaving your product.
- **Deflection before the question is asked.** While someone types a new idea into the widget, matching articles are suggested above the list of similar requests.
- **Feedback on every article.** Readers answer "Was this helpful?" once each. You see the helpful rate, and a list of articles that people say did not help.
- **A list of what is missing.** Searches that found nothing are counted, so you know which article to write next.

## Where it fits

The help center sits next to the [changelog](/features/changelog) and the [feedback board](/features/feedback-board) and uses the same theme, fonts and domain. A release can link to the article that explains a new feature, and a question that keeps coming up on the board is a sign it needs an article.

## What it costs

The Free plan holds 25 articles. Pro holds 500 and puts the help center on your own domain; Team holds 2000. Readers and searches are never counted.

## Questions and answers

### What is a help center?

A help center is a searchable collection of articles that answers the questions customers ask most, so they can solve a problem without contacting support.

### Can I put the help center on my own domain?

Yes, on Pro and Team. It is served on the same custom domain as your changelog, for example at yourapp.com/help or help.yourapp.com, with the certificate handled for you.

### Does the widget search the help center?

Yes. The widget has a Help tab that searches your published articles, and it suggests matching articles while a visitor writes a new feature request.

### How do I know which articles to improve?

Each article has a Was this helpful vote. The dashboard shows the helpful rate and flags articles that more people marked unhelpful than helpful, and it counts searches that found nothing.

### Is there a limit on articles?

Free holds 25 articles, Pro 500 and Team 2000. Readers, searches and widget loads are never counted.
