# A feedback board that closes the loop

> Shipnoted is a customer feedback board for collecting and ranking feature requests. People post and vote on a public board, in your app, or by email; your team triages from a fast inbox; and when a request ships, everyone who asked is emailed once.

## Where requests come from

- **A public board** where customers post ideas and vote. Similar requests are suggested while they type, so duplicates are caught before they are posted.
- **The widget in your app**, with a screenshot tool people can draw on.
- **Email.** Forward your support inbox to a feedback address and each message becomes a request.
- **Slack and Discord.** A reaction files a request; a channel can hear about new ones.
- **The API and CLI**, for anything else.

## Deciding what to build

- **Revenue-weighted votes.** Your app tells Shipnoted each voter's plan and monthly revenue, so you can see that 38 votes carry $4,200 a month and sort by money, not just count.
- **Segments** built from the attributes you send, such as plan or company size.
- **Themes.** Three hundred requests become a dozen themes: the same wish in different words, grouped, with what is rising.
- **A weekly digest** with churn-risk and rising themes.

## A fast inbox for your team

Press `j` and `k` to move, `1` to `5` to set a status, `e` to archive, `z` to undo. Assign requests, leave internal notes with @mentions, save views, merge duplicates and split them again. Everything responds at once and can be taken back. `⌘K` jumps anywhere.

## The loop

Every request has a number such as **SN-12**. Put it in a pull request ("Closes SN-12") and the pull request links itself. When you publish the release, each voter gets one email: you asked, it shipped. [Read how the loop works](/features/close-the-feedback-loop).

## Plans

Free includes the board for one project. Pro adds email to voters, verified users for revenue-weighted votes and the API. See [pricing](/pricing).

## Questions and answers

### What is a feedback board?

A feedback board is a page where customers submit feature requests and vote on the ones they want. It shows a team what people ask for most and lets customers see what happened to their request.

### How do I stop duplicate feature requests?

Shipnoted suggests similar existing requests while someone is typing, so they can vote instead of posting again, and your team can merge any that slip through. Votes move to the request they were merged into.

### Can I weight votes by customer revenue?

Yes, on Pro and Team. Your app sends each signed-in customer's plan and monthly revenue, and the board can be sorted by revenue as well as by vote count.

### Can customers be told when their request ships?

Yes. When you publish a release that closes a request, everyone who voted and left an email gets one message, never twice for the same release.

### Can I import from Canny or Featurebase?

Yes. Import requests, votes, comments and changelog entries from Canny, Featurebase or Productboard with an API key. Running the import twice does not create duplicates.
